ANCC FNP exam prep for nurse practitioners
ANCC includes professional-role and research-flavored items alongside primary care. Study both.
The ANCC Family Nurse Practitioner exam is a certification exam from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Certifia is not affiliated with ANCC. Candidates often ask how it differs from AANP: ANCC typically spends more weight on professional issues, evidence, and role, while still testing outpatient management. This page is a study hub. It does not run a public board exam or expose the question bank.
What the exam evaluates
Clinical management across the lifespan plus items on ethics, quality, informatics, and using evidence. You still must choose a safe plan for hypertension, infection, women’s health, and pediatrics. You must also recognize when the question is about the NP role rather than a drug.
How to prepare
Keep a clinical calendar like AANP, then add a weekly block for professional role: scope, collaboration, quality improvement, and how a study result changes practice. Mixed timed sets prevent you from only drilling the medical content you enjoy.
Important study areas
Same primary-care core as any FNP exam, plus research literacy at a consumer level, legal/ethical clinic scenarios, and population or systems questions written at a certification—not PhD—depth.

No. Certifia is an independent prep platform and is not endorsed by ANCC.
